We enlisted Carla's assistance in designing and constructing an information website catering to foreigners and expats in Brasilia, Brazil. As the capital of Brazil, Brasilia is centrally located and houses a sizable diplomatic community that rotates every 3 to 4 years. Originally designed for 500,000 residents, the city was built within a span of five years starting in 1956. However, it now boasts a population of over 3 million people. This growth presents unique challenges for foreigners trying to adapt to life in Brasilia, including navigating local customs, finding specific products, and discovering activities in and around the city. Initially, our intention was to create a basic stand-alone city guide website offering a few tips and tricks. However, during our initial briefing with Carla, she proposed an exciting opportunity to develop an interactive platform that would actively involve website visitors in organically expanding the information database. Carla suggested linking the website to a forum where visitors could share their own recommendations and comments, which could then be transferred to the website as useful information. Furthermore, all entries would be open to visitor comments, providing a comprehensive perspective that incorporates both our contributions and the opinions of visitors regarding various products and services.
